TEHRAN – Iran plays an important role in the International Federation of Red Cross, director of Iran's Red Crescent Society Ali-Asghar Peivand said on Monday.

“Iran will be a member of the Governing Board of the International Federation of Red Cross for the next four years,” Peivand was quoted by IRNA as saying.

He also said the Red Crescent Society and the IFRC have signed an agreement worth 23 million Swiss Francs to launch a joint operation to provide Iranian quake victims with psychological support, good nutrition and aid.
